Welcome to NFU Mutual Thornbury Bristol. We are situated in the historic town of Thornbury and twinned with Bockenem in Germany.
The Thornbury team had their hands full at the annual go karting Bristol championships hosted by Rainbow International. We have attended the event for over 5 years unsuccessfully until this year, the evening started off very well for Rachael who was at her best from the very start and supported by a great team with Jerry and Paul putting in some fantastic lap times and coming home with a commanding lead to take the top spot to everyone's surprise!

Around 30 people attended a very successful evening at David Hawkins Manor farm. Billed as the summer sizzler (no pun intended however the weather was more suitable for ducks) lots of warmth was generated as Dave showed us round the Upton Cheyney Chilli farm. Members had chance to try different strengths of chilli from the very mild to the Oh my god and the skills involved in growing the chilli's were explained. A barbecue was provided with burgers, sausages and Dave gave us a chance to try his different chilli relishes with the food. David Spratt and Martin Gill were on hand to serve drinks. A raffle was held and the money raised will be sent to RABI. Our thanks go to David Hawkins for arranging the evening. We are hoping to hold some talks for members on BIo security in the not to distant future and i will be writing out to members shortly with details.
Lisa and Rachael have been working with our risk management services (RMS) to provide a range of services to our commercial and farming customers. Legislation and the health and safety executive requirements mean tougher sanctions are imposed on company directors and organisations that do not have adequate processes in place to safeguard both there employees and the public. If you would like an RMS assessment from NFU Mutual please contact the Branch for further information.
Linked with the assessments that Rachael and Lisa are carrying out in the local community, responsibility for employers with fleet vehicles to ensure the safety of their employees is paramount. Personal injury claims due to accidents are an ever increasing cost to motor accident claims with insurers looking to reduce the impact of such large claims further importance is on company directors and fleet managers to ensure that the correct systems and fleet management processes are in place to reduce the risk of claims. NFU mutual are working partnership with RAC to audit the fleet management systems of our clients.
Risk Management Services are provided by NFU Mutual Risk Management Services Limited.

As part of our involvement in the local community we have teamed up with Thornbury Golf Club to sponsor a hole for there annual charity golf day being held in aid of Cancer Research UK. The weather was the only disappointment to the balloon fiesta for the first two days but the sun started to shine for the weekend, it was extremely busy with NFU flying disks and hamper being as popular as ever, there was a steady stream of customers new and existing enquiring about our services and products. The Berkeley Show which is held annually in the month of August has been going since 1902.
While the show draws competitors and visitors from a wide area it is the input from the local people
which makes the show what it is. We here at NFU feel that our presence is vital for the community, we will be there in the main strip in the NFU marquee to answer any questions existing policyholders may have, along with queries from new or prospective clients.
We have some great merchandise to give away so feel free to pop over and say hello. The show has a very traditional approach and has a very varied selection of attractions. There are many classes for Horses along with a Gymkhana. The cattle and sheep classes are a great showcase for our local farmers and hugely popular with the visitors to the show. Of course there are trade stands, crafts, a foodhall and a farmers market for all to enjoy a family day out.
