Ed is NFU Cymru President and NFU Cymru’s representative on the Charitable Trust. He is the third generation to raise beef and sheep in a farm partnership, in the hills of Merionethshire. He is currently an NFU Mutual Local Director and the Vice Chairman of the European Commission Sheep and Goats Committee. Edmund is also a member of the Lord Chancellors Agricultural Land Tribunal and a member of the Ministers Upland Forum and Open Access Forum.
Richard is a farmer in the Pewsey Vale in Wiltshire. Richard was President of the Association of Independent Crop Consultants from January 2004 to January 2007. He is a former NFU County Chairman and former Chairman of the National Cereals Committee of the NFU of England & Wales. Richard was appointed to the Board of Trustees by the NFU of England & Wales in 2009.
Jim qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in private practice and has since worked for a number of major companies, including Tarmac Construction, Massey Fergusson and, Sharp, the Japanese electronics group. He is also qualified as an English solicitor and has an honours and a masters degree in law. He has experience of a wide range of corporate and commercial law matters and in addition to his role as Secretary to the Trustees he is NFU Mutual’s Group Head of Legal and Company Secretary.
Sir Don is Chairman of the Trustees as well as being Chairman of NFU Mutual. He is Chairman of the Better Regulation Executive and was previously Chairman of the Delivery Group overseeing the Government’s Sustainable Farming & Food Strategy. Sir Don is also a member of the Council of the Royal Agricultural Society of England, a past Commissioner for the Crown Estates and is founder and Chairman of the charity At Home in the Community. Sir Don farms in Northumberland.
Sir Ian is Chairman of Scottish Exhibition Centre Limited. He is a former President of NFU Scotland and Chairman of the Crown Estate. Sir Ian has held a number of senior posts in industry and commerce including: Vice-Chairman of NFU Mutual, Deputy Chairman of Scottish & Southern Energy plc, Director of Clydesdale Bank and Chairman of the Scottish Tourist Board.
Peter is president of the NFU of England & Wales and is one of its representatives on the Charitable Trust. He farms in Eyeworth, East Bedfordshire in partnership with his brother. Peter sits on a variety of bodies in the UK and Europe including IGD's Policy Issues Council.
Nigel is NFU Scotland's president and NFU Scotland's representative on The Charitable Trust. Nigel Farms 1200 acres in partnership with two of his sons in the Scottish borders. The upland hill farm supports 170 cows and 800 breeding ewes. Nigel, a former vet, started his NFU Scotland career as Chairman of the West Berwick Branch and is a past Chairman of the livestock Committee Nigel was vice-president from March 2007 and elected president on February 2011.
Richard is Vice Chairman of NFU Mutual. He has farmed in Hertfordshire for over 25 years. Richard also runs an agricultural consultancy business and is a former member of the Board of the Environment Agency. Richard is also a Council Member of the NFU of England and Wales.
Lindsay Sinclair is NFU Mutual’s Group Chief Executive. Prior to joining NFU Mutual he was CEO of ING Direct. Over the past 25 years Lindsay has run retail businesses around the world for Barclays, ING and Standard Chartered (including bancassurance together with AIG across South East Asia).
John Thompson is a dairy farmer from North Antrim. He is President of Ulster Farmers Union and its representative on the Charitable Trust. Dairying is the main farming enterprise with a self-contained unit of arable farming producing grain and whole crop to support the livestock enterprise. John has been involved in all the main agriculturally related organisations. He has served as Vice Chairman of, and continues to be closely involved in, the North Antrim Agricultural Association, the society that runs the local agricultural show. He is currently an NFU Mutual Local Director.
