In the last 10 years there has been greater public awareness of renewable energy, along with more government impetus driving its development.

As many renewable energy sources are derived from agricultural products and waste, farmers have taken an active part in the development of renewable energy schemes, either to generate power for their own use or to supply to the utility companies. Our aim is to provide insurance to support the farming market in the development of small scale schemes (including small cooperatives of farmers who might establish facilities to operate on their behalf). Renewable energy forms

There are many forms of renewable energy that our farming customers may want to diversify into, in particular:

Bio Gas/ Anaerobic Digestion - breaks down organic matter to produce bio gas which is burnt to power turbines and produce electricity for own use and/or supply the grid.
Bio Mass - controlled burning of timber or agricultural waste to produce heat or electricity.
Solar Panels (Photovoltaic) - conversion of sunlight to electricity.
Wind Turbines - small scale turbines fixed to buildings or free standing.
