As an established agent I have a tremendous amount of experience in the role. Prior to becoming the agent I worked in Agriculture, did a degree in Agricultural Economics and worked for the NFU as a Lobbiest. Occasionally I reflect on what makes a good agency. The answer is simple... good staff and happy clients and never stop challenging yourself. I am very proud to be part of the team at Hungerford.
With 12 years service, I am the most senior member of staff other than Gary. My responsibilities include the day to day running of the office ensuring our clients are looked after and that the office runs smoothly. This can vary from resolving an insurance issue one minute to doing the tea run the next! With a banking career in my younger days, I am (for my sins) also responsible for our customer accounts. I am licensed in Motor, Personal and Equine insurance and love chatting to our clients, many of which I have built up a good relationship over the years.
I joined Gary's team over 7 years ago and my role in admin and logistics covers a wide range of duties including post, banking, filing / scanning, making sure all renewals are sent out on time and of course most important the tea making! I am also responsible for keeping stationary levels up, essential for the smooth running of the office, in other words a bit of a jack of all trades and Gary will probably say "master of none".
Andrew is our newest recruit having come to us after eight years experience in the broking market. Andrew is relishing the opportunity to extend his knowledge base and as with any of our new starters be very involved with training for the first few months. He assures us he is a quick learner!
I have worked for the Hungerford branch for one year. Previously, I worked for a large insurance broker for three years but much prefer working for a small team providing friendly local service! I like the fact that working for NFU Mutual, I talk to a wide variety of clients on a daily basis, from farmers to company directors of local businesses. I have learnt a lot in the last year and I am licensed in all insurance products - motor, home, equine and business.
Since joining the team in December 2008 I have gained my product licence's in motor personal and commercial products so have learnt a lot about all areas of the business. I previously worked for a Mutual Building Society, so also have a lot of experience in the benefits of being a Mutual company and the exceptional service that goes along with it. My main role is to handle claims from the first notification through to settlement. This can be challenging at times but also very rewarding when everything runs smoothly. Each day at the office is different though and I enjoy the variety, just last week I discovered that cutting Gary's hair was part of my job description!
Lindsay is currently on maternity leave.
I've been working for Gary for almost a year now and during this time I have gained a full set of licence's for both Personal and Commercial insurances. There is a fantastic sense of team work here in the Hungerford branch with the perfect balance between a lot of hard work and a lot of laughs! After a background in banking, this job provides me with the opportunity of doing what I love; meeting a variety of people and dealing with different enquires every day.
I work three days a week Monday to Wednesday.
Hi I'm Alistair and I have been with the team just over a year. Before that I'd worked in the mortgage industry as a broker and have to say that I much prefer this! I've learnt a lot in the last year from different models of Landrover to who makes the best tea in the office. The part of the job I enjoy most are the range of different enquires we get as well as the customers. At the moment I'm able to help with Motor, Equine, Domestic and commercial package products but soon hope to get qualified in the commercial select / farms and estates products.
We are pleased to welcome our most recent new recruit Nikki. Nikki has two years experience at another NFU Mutual branch so unlike most new recruits is able to hit the ground running. Nikki will work with the claims side of the branch but is fully licensed so can assist with quotes as well.
