"On the morning of Tuesday 6th September 2010 we were unfortunate to discover that our cellar was flooded, after torrential rain the night before and it was about 1ft deep.

The cellar contained 2 oil boilers, electrical appliances and shelving containing bakeware, glassware and many other items. The bottom shelf was completely submerged and items had floated off and were strewn all over.

Fortunately we are insured with The NFU. We had started our Policy with them in 2003 totally unaware of how well they compared with other insurance companies. It has been an absolute delight to deal with The NFU throughout this horrible experience.

I was able to personally discuss all aspects of our claim with Claire at the local Office (no foreign calls, automated systems or telephone operatives unable to deal with you, or following company guidelines and out of touch with your individual needs). I spoke almost daily with Claire. I felt she experienced this with us. She was sympathetic, helpful and gave positive advice. There was a continuity, she knew who I was and went above and beyond the call of duty. Despite the hassle of cleaning up, removing damaged goods, quotes etc,etc, at a time of stress, it was a pleasure to deal with The NFU. I am sure you would not experience this with any other company.

The NFU also referred me to Rainbow, a flood/fire restoration company. They arrived very promptly, were courteous and very efficient. Louise in the office was equally informative, sympathetic and helpful and also went 'through the trauma' with us.

I have been paid in full without quibble for all the damaged items and the matter was resolved very quickly indeed. I am so pleased that I chose The NFU. I would never wish to be insured by anyone else as a result of this.
