The Macclesfield Agency is proud to have nominated local charity SilkLife Food Bank, to receive a donation of £3225.80 from the national £2 million ‘NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund’.
In light of the national emergency our country is continuing to face, NFU Mutual has allocated a £2million fund help local frontline charities during 2021. This follows £1million of support delivered by NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund in 2020, which helped charities across many sectors to keep their life-changing services going throughout the pandemic.
To ensure these donations reach all corners of the UK and are directed where they’re needed most, NFU Mutual’s Agents, with over 300 offices nationwide, have been given the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund. The funds will offer support as lockdown measures continue to impact our communities, providing both emergency support and to help build long-term resilience.
The Macclesfield Agency nominated The SilkLife Foodbank to receive this support, to help deliver their important work.
Dan Blackman, The Silklife Foodbank co-ordinator said;
‘This donation has enabled the volunteer team at the Silklife Foodbank to share the same value that drives their work, to treat each other as we ourselves would wish to be treated. Every emergency food parcel is packed with care and compassion for those facing a hunger crisis in our town. The Pandemic has seen a massive rise in the need for food provision support and the Foodbank is currently giving away over 800kg of ambient food every week. The average monthly referrals have risen from 90 to 175 during the Pandemic. Each client referred will receive a minimum of 5 days of support for each person in the household, alongside a meal planner which will help them to manage their parcel correctly. Provision can be for up to a maximum of 3 weeks. Our service depends on the continued generous donations of the public. Food and financial donations are always welcome. The foodbank on George Street, Macclesfield is open to receive public donations on Tuesday and Friday 9:30am - 11:30am. Professionals such as health workers and safeguarding officers can refer clients through contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.’
