Canterbury & Sittingbourne Donate Agency Giving Fund

NFU Mutual Canterbury and Sittingbourne supports Porchlight, Canterbury to help local relief efforts

NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at the local Canterbury and Sittingbourne agency are delighted to have nominated local Porchlight, to receive a donation of over £6,400 from a national £2m ‘Agency Giving Fund’ launched by NFU Mutual’s Head Office.

In light of the national emergency this country is facing, NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, has allocated £2m to help local frontline charities at this difficult time. This follows £1million of support delivered by NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund in 2020, which helped charities across many sectors to keep their life-changing services going throughout the pandemic.

To help ensure this support reaches all corners of the UK, NFU Mutual has reached out to its Appointed Representative network of local Agents. Consisting of circa 300 independent Agency businesses and 9 NFU Mutual Branches, each have been given the opportunity to nominate a handful of local charities to receive a share of this fund.

The donation will be used to support Porchlight to support homeless and vulnerable people. They’re there for people who have nowhere to go and no-one to turn to. Some are living on the streets, others need their support to prevent or resolve any issues that could put them at risk of homelessness. Last year Porchlight supported more than 8000 individuals and families, our donation will enable them to be there for every member of our community who may need their support.

James Hodge, Senior Agent at NFU Mutual Canterbury and Sittingbourne, said: “The Coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on everybody, including our customers and their local communities.  Porchlight provide valuable support to our community, ensuing that people in Kent have a safe place to call home. We are proud to have been able to nominate this local charity to benefit from NFU Mutual’s national fund.”

Kate Boulding, Corporate Partnerships Manager, at Porchlight, said: “We want to say a massive thank you to NFU Mutual for generously donating over £6400 towards Porchlight’s work, and to the Canterbury and Sittingbourne branch for nominating us. A donation like this, which could cover more than 1,000 calls to our helpline, will make a big difference to the lives of people who are struggling to cope. We have been blown away by the support from businesses despite the challenges of the last year, it means so much to us that people recognise it’s important that our work continues.”
