Making a difference
We’re committed to making a difference and always doing our best for our communities. But that wouldn’t be possible without the best people working for us. So we work hard to create an environment where our employees can grow and flourish, where they’re engaged, and where they’re empowered to make a difference of their own.
We’re keen to give all kinds of people the opportunities to build careers in the financial sector. In 2017 we launched a new Apprenticeship Programme, and our Professional Trainee Scheme was ranked the best for banking and finance companies with a smaller graduate intake.
Our Employee Volunteering Programme gives staff the chance to volunteer in their local communities during work time. Last year 116 members of staff helped out at places such as foodbanks, schools and National Trust properties.
Our great people are the key to our success. So we’re committed to making them even greater by continually investing in their learning and development. Last year our employees benefitted from 25,314 days of training to help them become the best they can be. Which in turn helps us become the best we can be too.
In May 2017 we were awarded the Gallup Great Workplace Award. The prize is given to businesses that truly embrace a culture of world class engagement. We were one of only 37 companies around the world to be recognised – and the only one with headquarters in the UK.
