NFU Mutual | Insurance & Investment for rural communities & businesses

We’ve been supporting our customers, their families and the communities they live in for more than 100 years, and are introducing a £32 million support package to ensure we can continue to do so in these difficult times.

Here's a reminder of some of the existing measures we already have in place to respond to our customers' concerns, and some of the steps we'll be taking over the coming weeks.

Support package highlights

  • £24 million worth of real changes to our insurance cover
  • £1.8 million charitable donation increase to local communities
  • Making claims easier and speeding up payments
  • £50,000 donation to Farm Safety Foundation to support mental health
  • Estimated £250 million in premium discount through Mutual Bonus July 2020 - June 2021

In addition, we’re already...

  • Committing to supporting homeowners adapting their work patterns to the current situation
  • Supporting key workers through flexible changes to Motor policies
  • Taking a broad approach to support travel customers affected by Coronavirus
  • Applying automatic cover extensions for businesses diversifying within normal business activity
  • Assisting businesses to make policy changes as a result of COVID-19
  • Continuing to offer cover for uncollected milk
  • Ensuring cover will remain even when HSE Statutory Engineering inspections can't take place

Business Interruption statement

We understand this is an incredibly difficult time for many businesses affected by the Coronavirus outbreak and subsequent restrictions to movement. In line with UK market practice, our standard Business Interruption cover usually requires damage to property, such as storms or fires, in order to be triggered, which means the majority of customers will not be covered for Coronavirus.

At NFU Mutual, we always seek to support our customers wherever possible and will look to extend cover whenever we can. However, as a Mutual, one of our duties to our members is to remain solvent. Global pandemics such as Coronavirus require a much larger solution and financial package from authorities and central Governments than is possible for insurers to provide.
