Women in Finance Charter

At NFU Mutual, we are proud to be a signatory of the HM Treasury Women in Finance Charter and remain committed to improving gender diversity in senior leadership.
When we signed up to the Charter in October 2018, female representation in senior management was 36%. We set an increased target to reach 38% by September 2021 and successfully achieved it. Building on that momentum, we set a new target of a minimum of 40% by September 2025 and we are pleased to share that we have met, and slightly exceeded, this milestone, with female representation in senior management standing at 40.5%, reflecting our continued commitment to gender balance and inclusive leadership.
Our focus now is on embedding and maintaining this level of representation, with a minimum of 40% female representation in our senior management roles, ensuring that gender diversity remains a consistent and integral part of our leadership culture. We recognise that achieving gender balance in senior leadership requires sustained action, an inclusive culture, and meaningful engagement; we will continue to implement a range of initiatives designed to foster gender diversity and inclusion across the organisation as well as support our Women in Finance Charter commitments. These initiatives include:
- Investing in tailored development programmes that support career growth for all employees and further strengthens our talent pipelines to senior management. Additionally, we will continue to regularly review and enhance our learning offering for diversity and inclusion topics.
- Continuing to work closely with our Gender Equity Network which has grown into a vibrant community for dialogue, advocacy and support.
- Embedding inclusion into all people processes - from recruitment to development and progression, diversity and inclusion are central to how we operate.
- Leveraging data-driven insights, we will continue to regularly analyse both quantitative and qualitative feedback to inform our gender balance strategy and track progress.
Maintaining a minimum of 40% female representation in senior leadership is a reflection of our long-term commitment to gender diversity and inclusive culture. It’s a key part of how we will continue to meet our strategic objective to be a Great Place to Work. In line with this commitment, we will review our target again in 2027 to ensure it continues to reflect our ambition and progress in building a gender-balanced leadership team.
