Steven Brettle
Senior Agent & NFU Group Secretary
With over 12 years' experience as an agent for NFU Mutual; Steven has a comprehensive technical knowledge of all products and services offered. His work before he entered the world of insurance (working as an area manager for a global poultry producer) puts him in a good place to understand and advise on your business requirements. Whatever your needs Steven specialises in face to face service for prospective or existing customers, helping him to fully understand their needs and find suitable insurance solutions. The team is currently working between the two sites in Ulverston and Broughton and is comprised of 12 staff across the two sites. They have dedicated specialisms and are always willing to assist with all your insurance requirements.
Andrew Pye
Agent & NFU Group Secretary
Andrew became an agent in December 2011. His experience over the years includes running his own farm, various agricultural related occupations and gaining a Nuffield scholarship; which took him to farms as far away as New Zealand and Canada with a view to understanding different ways of running a business. This experience enabled him to offer his services as a business consultant. Andrews’ skills best suit him to networking and being out on the road meeting new clients and popping in to check on existing customers.
Natalie Edmondson
Agent & NFU Group Secretary
Natalie joined the team in January 2015 as the assistant agent within the Broughton-in-Furness office. Prior to working for NFU Mutual she ran her own events management company specialising in agricultural events. She is from a farming background and still involved in the family dairy farm in Scales. Although she can deal with many of your insurance needs, she mainly specialises in commercial insurance.
Ronnie Neale
Agent & NFU Group Secretary
Ronnie started in the agency in July 2012. After fulfilling multiple different roles within the office, he was appointed assistant agent in December 2017. Ronnie specialises in face to face service and due to working in different roles in the agency has a wide range of insurance expertise, which he uses to find the right insurance solution.
Deborah Scott
Customer Sales Adviser
Deborah joined us in August 2016, having worked as a financial specialist in Ulverston. Deborah also had a long career locally as a manager in the travel industry and brings with her a wealth of customer service experience. She is able to help with motor, personal and commercial insurance needs and looks forward to welcoming customers old and new. Appointments are also available if you prefer to call into the office where free parking is available.
Theresa Kirkbride
Claims Handler
Theresa started working for NFU Mutual in August 2008. She is our claims handler, dealing with a variety of claims in the office and also liaising with our regional claims department. She is also able to assist with car, tractor, commercial vehicle, home and lifestyle insurance and horse insurance, as well as commercial policies including farm. Theresa has a farming background and enjoys the variety of work that comes in to our office. Alongside product licenses she has gained a professional qualification in insurance.
Megan Park
Customer Service Adviser
Megan joined the Broughton team in May 2008, she enjoys working in the small friendly team in the Broughton office and likes to help our customers with their insurance needs. Megan can help you with general insurance, business insurance and liaise with NFU Mutual's financial adviser, Rob Coates.
Robbie Wallace
Customer Sales Adviser
Robbie has worked at the NFU mutual office in Ulverston since October 2017. He came to this job straight from finishing his A-levels in law, business and accounting after doing a week’s work experience in the office. Currently Robbie can help with all motor and personal insurances as well as bespoke. He is currently enrolled in a CII qualification in financial services and also working towards his commercial licences to be completed by the end of 2018.
Rachel Benn
Customer Service Adviser
Rachel joined the Broughton-in-Furness office at the end of November 2016. She can assist with vehicle insurance, home insurance and business insurance. Rachel comes from a local hill farming family and has a background in hospitality. Rachel is committed to excellent customer service.
Alice Longmire
Customer Service Adviser
Alice started at our office in July 2015. She is able to help with all aspects of insurance including car, tractor, commercial vehicle, home and lifestyle insurance and horse insurance, as well as commercial policies including farm and motor trade. She is also working towards a professional insurance qualification. Alice is from a farming background.
Elisa Swarbrick
Life Lead Co-Ordinator
Elisa started at our office in September 2015, having previously worked at the Chorley agency for five years. Elisa supports Rob Coates, an NFU Mutual financial adviser. Elisa assists in making appointments with Rob. She also increases awareness of the life services we offer amongst both new and existing clients.
Sarah Caine
Customer Service Adviser
Sarah started at our office in June 2012 as a customer service adviser and is able to assist with car, tractor, commercial vehicle, home, horse and commercial insurance policies. She offers a helpful approach to ensure your query is dealt with efficiently and you receive exceptional service. Sarah works part time (Monday to Wednesday) since having her daughter in 2016.
Glen Packington
Customer Service Adviser
Glen started at our office in July 2017 as a customer service adviser. He is able to assist with car, tractor, commercial vehicle, home, horse and commercial package insurance policies. He joined the team from Swinton Insurance where he worked for 27 years.
Carol Phifer
Customer Service Adviser
Carol started working for NFU Mutual in September 1990 to do two weeks filing, nearly 30 years later and she is still here. Carol is able to assist with car, commercial vehicle, agricultural vehicles, horse and home & lifestyle policies. Carol works part-time, just three days a week, which gives her time to go away in her motorhome with her dog, visiting her daughters who are scattered around the UK. She is a retired farmer, running the family suckler cow, beef and sheep farm with her husband. They also had a campsite which kept them busy.
Charles Hamilton
Customer Service Adviser
Charlie started at our office in March 2018. He is able to assist with car, tractor, commercial vehicle and home and lifestyle insurances. Charlie helps with insurance policy renewals, working to ensure that everyone receives their documents correct and on time. While he has not been working for NFU Mutual for long, he has a strong background in finance, having worked for a large bank for five years prior. Alongside his full time work he is working towards completing an A Level in maths in his spare time.

Rob joined NFU Mutual in 1997. Being local gives him a fantastic opportunity to get to know his customers and understand their individual needs. You can expect openness, honesty and integrity. Rob is able to provide advice on pensions and investments, and his aim is to put you in the driving seat, so you can make sound financial decisions.
