We’re making some changes to your home insurance

We understand that the needs and preferences of our customers change over time. We’re reviewing our policies, starting with home insurance, to make sure we continue to provide high-quality cover with a great choice of optional extras.

Your cover

We've made changes to our home insurance to help ensure that the cover features continue to meet individual needs.

This means there might be some changes to the amount you can claim for on your policy, or fewer questions we need to ask you about your contents. As before, your cover will still be Defaqto 5 Star rated. ​

Documents

We’ve given our documents a new look and feel. We've removed jargon from our wording and given our product a new name. When you receive your renewal pack, please look through your ‘changes to your home insurance’ document for more information.

Managing your policy

You can now manage your home insurance online. 

With an online account, you can:

• Go ‘paperless’ for the policies you manage within your online account.
• Review your renewal and accept and pay for it online.
• View, download or print your policy documents at any time.

And in future, you’ll be able to make certain changes to your policy online, such as adding or removing optional covers, and view and accept any new home insurance quotes.

You'll receive your renewal pack approximately three weeks before your renewal date.

Your new renewal price will be shown in your renewal documents.

Personal Legal Expenses Extra - upgrade your Personal legal expenses cover providing wider family cover.

Home Emergency Cover – optional cover for boiler breakdown and a range of other home emergencies.

Cycling Protection - you can choose to top up your 'contents away from the home' cover if cycling is your passion.

Please refer to your schedule for covers you already have. You can ask us for details if you’d like to add these covers.

When you receive your renewal pack, your 'Changes to your insurance' document will explain the new cover and any changes from last year. 

As a Responsible Business, we’re working hard to reduce the amount of paper we use. We know this is important to many of our customers too.

When you register for an online account, you’ll automatically go paperless for the policies that you can see within your account. We’ll email you to let you know when there’s a new document ready to view.

We're reviewing all of our policies, starting with home insurance, to ensure they still offer high quality cover for our customers. We'll contact our customers when their policy will be affected.

All the information you need will be in your renewal pack. You'll receive this approximately three weeks before your renewal date. 

If you still have questions after you have received and looked through your renewal pack, please contact where you purchased your policy from. This will be our UK-based contact centre Mutual Direct or an agency.
