Maendy YFC Win National Entertainments Final
On Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th of April, Maendy YFC from Glamorgan County, won the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs Pantomime, held in Leamington Spa!
We have supported the local young farmers club over the years, but we were particularly proud in this instance to be able to sponsor the club and help them on their way to the finals. It’s the fifth time that Glamorgan YFC has won a national performing art final and this time Maendy won for their production of Anarchy in Arabia. A special mention must also go to Christina Thomas who won best actress. A big congratulation to all those involved.
Glamorgan YFC Field Day
On Saturday 11th Pam and Rachel from our Bridgend office had the honour of participating in the Glamorgan Young Farmers Field Day held at Penllyn Estate. Pam was judging the U16s cooking competition, while Rachel assisted her with stewarding. It was great to get amongst some familiar faces from the local farming community, with it being the first field day held since the beginning of Covid-19.
Glamorgan Point to Point
We were proud sponsors of the Glamorgan Hunt Point to Point held on Saturday 16th April at Redlands Farm Bonvilston. The annual race day was well overdue thanks to the pandemic, but It was a tremendously well attended day with the sun shining. The team had a fabulous day seeing so many faces both old and new and thank you to everyone how came to visit us at our tent, we can’t wait to see you all next year!
NFU Mutual Bridgend and Swansea Charity Golf Day in Aid of Velindre Cancer Centre
On Friday the 20th May, we held our annual charity golf day, in aid of raising funds for Velindre Cancer centre. Senior Agent, is a an ambassador for Velindre, and so the charity is very close to our hearts here within the agency.
In total we had 41 teams playing on the day from 9am through to 3pm and the results were as follows:
Ladies Individual was Kath McGrath, runner up Caroline Kelly
Ladies team was Chipper Chicks
Men’s Individual was Guy Jones, with George Gleeson runner up and Luke Sloan 3rd.
Men’s team was Oil Facilities Ltd (our hole in one Sponsor) , Sinclair Audi runner up, and Ashdown Construction 3rd place
Best endeavour was H.R.T. playing with 3 in the team didn’t help.
A total of 314 balls were lost on the day, and was guessed correctly by jockey Jack Tudor- the most for any of our days- the wind certainly helped with that, and also one team losing 32 balls by themselves!
A wonderful day thanks to Southerndown Golf Club for their continued support with this, raising in excess of £5,000 for Velindre Cancer care centre.
Next year’s date is Friday 19th May 2023, looking forward to seeing you all again next year!
