I thought I already had breakdown cover included in my motor insurance policy?
If you have a Car Insurance policy with us, then you automatically have the standard level of breakdown cover 'Mutual Assist' included in your policy.
If you have a Light Goods Vehicle policy with us for your Light Commercial Vehicle, then breakdown cover is not automatically included as standard.

Your insurance schedule shows the level of Road Rescue cover that applies to each vehicle.
The cover is for the vehicle(s) registered on the insurance policy.
Yes, any motorhome you have insured or trailer/caravan (up to 5.5m long) towed by the insured vehicle will be covered by this offer.
The same restrictions apply to any existing RAC breakdown cover you already have. Vehicles must be up to 3.5t weight & 5.5m long. These restrictions also apply to any trailer (not combined weight and length).
The temporary enhanced cover does not include ‘onward travel’ cover. However you will still have access to a small hire car for up to 48 hours, if repairs cannot be completed on the same day and recovery to a garage within 20 miles of breakdown, if repairs cannot be completed at the roadside.
However, if you have paid for the ‘National Assist’ cover or ‘National plus Home Assist’ cover then you will receive ‘onward travel’ support.
If you have upgraded to ‘National Assist’ or ‘National plus Home Assist’ you already benefit from 12 months of cover, giving peace of mind that you’re covered throughout the year, should you need it.
Customers who have already paid for a higher level of cover are entitled to additional services over and above the temporary cover extension being offered. There is also the option of hire car, alternative travel or overnight accommodation for driver and passengers should your vehicle need a longer fix (up to £500 covered), in addition to the cover being temporarily provided to other customers.

You can purchase or upgrade your current breakdown cover at any time by contacting your local NFU Mutual office or Mutual Direct. If your insurance policy has started, you can add, or upgrade breakdown cover for the remaining term of your insurance and pay a pro-rata fee which would be spread across the remaining monthly payments (if you pay monthly) or added to annual cost (if you pay annually). You can also add, or upgrade breakdown cover at renewal.
If you have already broken down and need to add or upgrade your current breakdown cover, you will be charged for assistance by RAC when you call them (i.e. pay on use).

The following vehicles aren't included in this offer, due to the specialist breakdown cover they require, however, we may be able to provide separate breakdown cover for these vehicles. If you'd like more information on this, then please contact us.
