Good causes across the North East benefit from almost £350,000 as part of NFU Mutual’s national charitable fund

NFU Mutual’s agent and branch offices across the North East have nominated 44 local charities in the region to receive a combined donation of £347,556 from our 2025 Agency Giving Fund.
To ensure these donations reached all corners of the UK and were directed to supporting essential front-line community services, NFU Mutual’s agency offices and branches, with more than 280 locations nationwide, were given the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund.
From providing food parcels, donating to frontline health charities and enabling outreach mental health services to continue, the fund is making a difference to communities across the region.
One of the charities to benefit in the North East was Autism Angels, which was nominated by NFU Mutual Ripon Agency, receiving a donation of £7,899.
Sarah Kekoa, Charity Founder and Lead Facilitator, explained how the donation helped: “We are thrilled to have been supported by NFU Mutual. Through this funding we have been able to support neurodiverse children rediscover the joy in learning, in our nurturing environment which puts their social, emotional and wellbeing needs at the forefront. This is a milestone for these children as they had previously experienced burnout and mental health challenges around their value in this world. In addition, we have also been able to support parents through their own challenges of parenting neurodivergent children and navigating an educational system that is struggling to meet so many different needs. This funding has been a lifeline for our families and we can’t thank NFU Mutual enough.”
Another cause to benefit was St Leonard’s Hospice, which was nominated by NFU Mutual Selby Agency, also receiving a donation of £7,899.
Annie Keogh, Corporate Partnerships Development Fundraiser at St Leonard’s Hospice, said: “We believe that everyone with a life-limiting illness should get the best possible care and thanks to this donation we can provide this priceless help for more people in York and North Yorkshire. The donation of £7,899 means we can be here to help more local people when they need us the most. It’s great to know there are special people like NFU Mutual in our local community who want to help make this possible.”
Karen Taylor, NFU Mutual regional manager for the North East region, added: “Charities like Autism Angels and St Leonard’s Hospice are making a wonderful difference to our communities in these challenging times, and we are proud that our agents have nominated a wide range of local causes across the region to benefit from NFU Mutual’s national fund.”
