Good causes across the North West benefit from £213,000 as part of NFU Mutual’s national charitable fund

NFU Mutual’s agent and branch offices across the North West have nominated 27 local charities in the region to receive a combined donation of £213,273 from the 2025 Agency Giving Fund.

To ensure these donations reached all corners of the UK and were directed to supporting essential front-line community services, NFU Mutual’s agency offices and branches, with more than 280 locations nationwide, were given the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund.

From providing food parcels, donating to frontline health charities and enabling outreach mental health services to continue, the fund is making a difference to communities across the region.

One of the charities to benefit in the North West was St Mary’s Hospice, which was nominated by NFU Mutual Ulverston Agency, receiving a donation of £7,899.

Annabelle Holloway, Corporate Partnerships Manager at St Mary’s Hospice, explained how the donation helped: “This donation will go towards purchasing a new car for the hospice, to be used for fundraising, engagement and community outreach purposes. This vehicle will allow our fundraising and engagement teams to attend community events to raise vital funds and awareness for the hospice and will allow our Complementary Therapists to support people in the community facing a life-limiting diagnosis. Everyone at St Mary’s Hospice is incredibly grateful for the continued support of NFU Mutual and the NFU Mutual Ulverston Agency and this donation will help to ensure we can continue to care for families facing a life-limiting diagnosis, across the South Lakes and Furness area.”

Another cause to benefit was Bridgnorth District Community First Responders, which was nominated by NFU Mutual Ludlow Agency, also receiving a donation of £7,899.

Bridgnorth District Community First Responders said: “As a volunteer organisation funded entirely by donations, receiving support from organisations such as NFU Mutual is so important. The donation we received will enable us to recruit and provide equipment for new volunteers, replace old equipment, such as our AED’s, and keep our car maintained and ready to respond. We are so grateful to NFU Mutual and the Ludlow agency for providing this generous donation which will enable us to continue providing lifesaving services to our local community.”

Owen Suckley, NFU Mutual regional manager for the North West region, added: “Charities like St Mary’s Hospice and Bridgnorth District Community First Responders are making a wonderful difference to our communities in these challenging times, and we are proud that our agents have nominated a wide range of local causes across the region to benefit from NFU Mutual’s national fund.”
