Sherborne Agency is delighted to have nominated local charity Sherborne Food Bank, to receive a donation of £3,164 from a national £1m ‘Agency Giving Fund’ launched by NFU Mutual.
In light of the national emergency this country is facing, NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, has allocated £1m to help local frontline charities at this difficult time.
To help ensure this support reaches all corners of the UK, NFU Mutual has reached out to its Appointed Representative Network of local Agents. Consisting of circa 300 independent Agency businesses and 9 NFU Mutual Branches, each have been given the opportunity to nominate a handful of local charities to receive a share of this fund.
Locally, we have nominated Sherborne Food Bank to receive this support, to help deliver their important work.
On receipt of our nomination the this was the reply we received from Sherborne Food Bank:
Since the COVID-19 lockdown came into force at the end of March the Sherborne Food Bank has faced unprecedented demand for the support it offers to families and individuals in financial need. But this has been accompanied by a reduction in food donations as many donors now find themselves self-isolating and unable to support the food bank as part of a regular shopping trip. This generous cash donation from NFU Mutual will enable the food bank to source food supplies direct from supermarkets and wholesalers to make up the shortfall in donations, thus ensuring that it can continue to be a ‘helping hand to the hungry’
The NFU Mutual’s £1m emergency fund for local charities across the UK, forms part of an overall £32m support package NFU Mutual has committed for the benefit of customers and communities affected by the coronavirus.
