Start the conversation about handing down the farm
It starts with a conversation, that leads to a plan, that keeps your farm in the family.
Many farmers know they need to consider the future management of their farms but often don’t know how to start the succession planning conversation.
We’ve been insuring farmers for over a hundred years, and as the UK’s leading rural insurer, NFU Mutual want to help families like yours start talking about the future of their farms.
That’s why we are working in partnership with Duchy College and the University of Exeter to deliver a series of free regional seminars on ‘handing down the farm’.
Seminars will take place in the North East and Northern Ireland in December 2016, and Wales and the North West February 2017.
The seminars are a unique opportunity to hear from experts from NFU Mutual, Duchy College and the University of Exeter, as they take farmers through the importance of succession planning and explore the difficult and sensitive process. At each seminar, real life examples will be shared of farmers who have successfully taken steps to safeguard the future of their business, in addition to examples of what happens when there is no plan in place.
The seminars offer farmers the opportunity to take the first steps around this complex subject. The speakers will help farmers move forward and think about how to tackle the subject of succession planning.
