Swaffham Announce Donation of Agency Giving Fund

NFU Mutual Swaffham supports East Anglian Air Ambulance to help local relief efforts

NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at the local Swaffham agency are delighted to have nominated local charity East Anglia Air Ambulance, to receive a donation of more than £3,000 from a national £1m ‘Agency Giving Fund’ launched by NFU Mutual’s Head Office.

In light of the national emergency this country is facing, NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, has allocated £1m to help local frontline charities at this difficult time.

To help ensure this support reaches all corners of the UK, NFU Mutual has reached out to its Appointed Representative network of local Agents.  Consisting of circa 300 independent Agency businesses and 9 NFU Mutual Branches, each have been given the opportunity to nominate a handful of local charities to receive a share of this fund.

Stuart Wyle, Head of Community Fundraising at East Anglian Air Ambulance, said: “We’re so grateful to have this support from NFU Mutual to aid our vital work during the pandemic. Our crews are still responding to 999 calls, as well as supporting the NHS by transferring critically ill Covid-19 patients between hospitals when intensive care units get full.

“None of this can be done without the right personal protective equipment (PPE), presenting the East Anglian Air Ambulance with a significant, unbudgeted cost. In addition, all our fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed, and most community fundraising has stopped, leaving us with a gap in income. We have seen a phenomenal response to our appeal and feel so lucky to be part of such a supportive and generous community, who even in these difficult times, are helping us to keep flying and saving lives.”

Patrick Verrell, Senior Agent at NFU Mutual in Swaffham, said: “The Coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on everybody, including our customers and their local communities.  East Anglian Air Ambulance is making a wonderful difference to our community in these challenging times, and we are proud to have been able to nominate this local charity to benefit from NFU Mutual’s national fund and support them once again.”

NFU Mutual’s £1m emergency fund for local charities across the UK, forms part of an overall £32m support package NFU Mutual has committed for the benefit of customers and communities affected by the coronavirus.
