Tenterden Agency is proud to have nominated local charity Warming up the Homeless, to receive a donation of £6,450 from the national £2 million ‘NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund’.
In light of the national emergency our country is continuing to face, NFU Mutual has allocated a £2million fund help local frontline charities during 2021. This follows £1million of support delivered by NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund in 2020, which helped charities across many sectors to keep their life-changing services going throughout the pandemic.
To ensure these donations reach all corners of the UK and are directed where they’re needed most, NFU Mutual’s Agents, with over 300 offices nationwide, have been given the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund. The funds will offer support as lockdown measures continue to impact our communities, providing both emergency support and to help build long-term resilience.
The Tenterden Agency nominated Warming up the Homeless to receive this support, to help deliver their important work.
This donation has allowed the Warming up the Homeless charity to split the donation for two purposes. Half of the donation will be used for the Sunday Supper Club, where a full roast dinner with all the trimmings and dessert is provided. They also provide showers complete with towels and toiletries, the services of a barber, a podiatrist, a HR consultant who helps with CV writing and interview techniques etc, a mental health nurse, GP, nurse for physical injuries and women’s hairdresser. They cater for 30-40 people an evening.
The second half of the donation has been adeptly titled the NFU Emergency Accommodation Fund, and is for those who are not able to be housed and would therefore be forced to sleep rough for more nights than necessary. So many people die from Hyperthermia during the winter months as they do not have access to accommodation. This funding from NFU Mutual will save lives.
Trudy Hampton, CEO of Warming up the Homeless, said: “With many grateful thanks to NFU Mutual for their very generous donation, we can now continue to feed, clothe and support 800 people a week via outreach and our food bank.”
