Yeovil Agency is proud to have nominated local charity Lords Larder Food Bank, Yeovil, to receive a donation of £6,451.62 from the national £2 million ‘NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund’.
In light of the national emergency our country is continuing to face, NFU Mutual has allocated a £2million fund help local frontline charities during 2021. This follows £1million of support delivered by NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund in 2020, which helped charities across many sectors to keep their life-changing services going throughout the pandemic.
To ensure these donations reach all corners of the UK and are directed where they’re needed most, NFU Mutual’s Agents, with over 300 offices nationwide, have been given the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund. The funds will offer support as lockdown measures continue to impact our communities, providing both emergency support and to help build long-term resilience.
Yeovil Agency nominated Lords Larder Food Bank Yeovil to receive this support, to help deliver their important work.
“The Lord's Larder Food Bank Yeovil has been operating since 1991, so this year we are celebrating our 30th year as possibly the oldest food bank in the UK. We work by long life ambient food being donated to the food bank by the public, schools, churches and local business. Agencies then request food parcels on behalf of their single clients and families they are working with, who are desperately in need of food, the agency then collect the food parcel and deliver to their clients. Last year we were able to help 8,200 local people with food parcels.
We work closely with many local organisations who provide services for those in need. We are in turn supported by many local churches, businesses, supermarkets, and members of the public from the local community, including NFU Mutual who have given a generous donation of £6,451.62, for which we are very grateful.
We are having more people in need of food parcels who may not currently have an agency supporting them, they can obtain emergency food support by contacting Citizens Advice on 03444 889623. Anyone wishing to support the work of The Lord’s Larder Food Bank Yeovil, can see what food items we currently need on our website www.ycstyeovil.org.uk”
