Swansea Announce Agency Giving Fund

Swansea Agency are proud to have nominated local charity Kidney Wales, to receive a donation from NFU Mutual’s national £2 million ‘Agency Giving Fund.’

To ensure these donations reach all corners of the UK and are directed where they’re needed most, NFU Mutual’s Agents, with over 300 offices nationwide, have been given the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund. The funds will offer support as lockdown measures continue to impact our communities, providing both emergency support and to help build long-term resilience.

We caught up with Danielle from Kidney Wales to give us an insight into some of the brilliant work the charity has been doing recently:

“Kidney Wales' mission is to unite the Welsh Kidney Community to enable pioneering world class care, support and well-being services. We thrive to reach our vision by delivering education and awareness raising activity, working in partnership with other organisations to enhance the experience and well-being of the kidney community.  We invest our funds in support services and enhancing facilities and equipment to add value to statutory funding and improve patient care and well-being and finally develop innovative programmes in research for the benefit of kidney patients in the Welsh community.

Since the COVID-19 Pandemic hit the world by storm, we have worked tirelessly to support our Kidney Community and our brilliant NHS through these extraordinary times.  We have increased our grants available for patients during this time of hardship, whilst offering wellbeing information and support by bringing the community together through our online Facebook group where we share key guidance and advice helping patients feel prepared for every aspect of the pandemic. We have funded 5,000 re-usable face coverings for Kidney Patients who are shielding.  Our most recent campaign launched is a voucher project focused around Well-being. A small gesture to patients during these challenging times, that we hope will help get us through the remaining lock down and period of shielding, and while the COVID vaccine is being rolled out more widely.

In addition, we are very excited to have just last week confirmed the funding of a research study based at the University Hospital of Wales, which is looking at how transplant and haemodialysis patients respond to the COVID vaccines.  It involves measuring the immune system response to the vaccine (antibodies and T-cells) and should help find out how effective the vaccine is likely to be at keeping our Kidney Community safe from COVID-19.

NFU Mutual’s donation and continued support in a very difficult year has helped us bring these projects to life for our community, we can’t thank you enough for your generosity.”

NFU Mutual’s £2million Agency Giving Fund forms part of a series of initiatives NFU Mutual has committed for the benefit of customers and communities affected by coronavirus. To find out more, please visit our Coronavirus Information Hub.
