NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund 2026 for Strathaven, Lanark & Bearsden Agency

NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at NFU Mutual Strathaven, Lanark & Bearsden Agency, have proudly nominated three local charities to each receive a donation of more than £7,899 through NFU Mutual’s national £2.33 million community giving programme. The funding forms part of a UK-wide initiative supporting over 280 charities and community organisations that provide vital services to people facing a wide range of challenges.

East Dunbartonshire Foodbank

The donation will support their ongoing welfare rights advice partnership with a local housing association in an area of high deprivation. Through this partnership, a dedicated Welfare Rights Officer regularly attends the foodbank to provide specialist advice and support to people experiencing financial hardship.

The service helps individuals access the benefits and financial support they are entitled to, including Universal Credit, Carer’s Benefits and Council Tax Reduction. By addressing income-related issues and improving financial stability, this support can reduce reliance on emergency food provision and help people achieve greater financial independence.

This partnership is a vital part of the support they offer, ensuring that people receive not only emergency food assistance but also the expert advice needed to address the underlying challenges that have led them to seek help.

Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire & East Renfrewshire

The donation will help Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire and East Renfrewshire establish new refuge accommodation for women and families fleeing domestic abuse. Safe refuge spaces provide immediate security, stability and support for those escaping abusive situations and beginning to rebuild their lives.

Part of the funding may also be used to raise awareness of the charity’s services within local communities. Increasing awareness helps ensure that women and children experiencing domestic abuse know where to turn for support and can access the specialist services available to them when they need them most.

By supporting both refuge provision and community outreach, the donation will help Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire and East Renfrewshire reach more women and children, providing safety, practical assistance and a pathway to a more secure future.

Maggie’s Lanarkshire

Maggie's Lanarkshire provides free practical, emotional and psychological support to people living with cancer, as well as their families and friends. The centre offers expert guidance, benefits advice, counselling, support groups and wellbeing programmes, helping people navigate the challenges of a cancer diagnosis and treatment.

We are pleased to support Maggie's Lanarkshire and the invaluable work they do within the local community, ensuring that people affected by cancer have access to the support, information and care they need during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
