Dorchester Announce Agency Giving Fund Donation

NFU Mutual Dorchester Agency are delighted to have nominated local charity Age UK North, South & West Dorset, to receive a donation of more than £3,000 from a national £1m ‘Agency Giving Fund’ launched by NFU Mutual’s Head Office.

In light of the national emergency this country is facing, NFU Mutual, the UK’s leading rural insurer, has allocated £1m to help local frontline charities at this difficult time.

To help ensure this support reaches all corners of the UK, NFU Mutual has reached out to its Appointed Representative network of local Agents.  Consisting of circa 300 independent Agency businesses and 9 NFU Mutual Branches, each have been given the opportunity to nominate a handful of local charities to receive a share of this fund.

This donation will allow Age UK North, South & West Dorset to continue their community support operation, helping people who need shopping and prescriptions collected or who simply want to hear a friendly voice.

Matt Uren, Senior Agent at Dorchester NFU Mutual, said: “The Coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on everybody, including our customers and their local communities. Age UK North, South & West Dorset is making a wonderful difference to our community in these challenging times, and we are proud to have been able to nominate this local charity to benefit from NFU Mutual’s national fund.”

David Thorp, Chief Executive of Age UK North, South & West Dorset said: “The generous donation that NFU Mutual are making to our charity will go directly towards our Community Support operation, where to date we have taken over 5,000 calls and made nearly 6,000 outgoing calls (all from the safety of our own homes). We have arranged deployment for over 1,000 people in need, many of them requiring multiple visits.

The donation will also help us to reopen a toenail cutting service as we have had so many older people call us, desperate to have their toenails cut so that they can keep mobile. In order to do this, we will invest some of the money to ensure clients and staff remain safe.”
